The Broadway-style comedy PAWN SHOP LIVE!, a parody of the story behind HISTORY’s reality show “Pawn Stars,” is set to open at the 600-seat Gordie Brown Showroom inside the Golden Nugget on January 21.
Created by Emmy® award-winning producer Derek Stonebarger, PAWN SHOP LIVE! is based on the story of the pawn shop and includes story contributions from Rick Harrison and the Harrison family.
“We have been laughing at ourselves since before ‘Pawn Stars’ gained success and every minute since then after it hit the air,” says Rick Harrison. “Why not get involved with these guys, add a real element to their show and enjoy the ride all the way to the bank …or the poor house."
With seven live actors and dancers, as well as a puppet, PAWN SHOP LIVE! will feature celebrity guests and surprises with guest appearances from the real “Pawn Stars” as often as their filming schedule permits.
Directed and co-written by Troy Heard, the show begins with a young Slick Garrison struggling with a debilitating illness which forces him out of school and into a world of home schooling. Slick grows into a book- and street-smart genius using his experiences and life lessons, often taught from his father - a puppet named Old Fart - to eventually influence the world with his knowledge and art of the deal. Working the family business, Slick is joined by his son, Lil Boss, and his son's dim-witted friend, Chump, who become international superstars in the process.
Heard is one of the top theater directors in Las Vegas, a multi-year winner of Director of the Year, the recipient of the Gregory Hines Memorial Fellowship and a member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
