Inspired by the true story, the Tony Award® nominee for Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET moves into the Harrah’s Showroom February 4.
“We couldn’t be more delighted to bring MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET to Harrah’s Las Vegas,” says Rick Mazer, president of Harrah’s Las Vegas. “With a fascinating story about a little known, real ground-breaking event, and spectacular music performed live, this production is an exhilarating new show that our guests will love.”
The Tony® Award Winning musical, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is set on December 4, 1956, when an extraordinary twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together. Sam Phillips, the “Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll” who was responsible for launching the careers of each superstar, brought the four legendary musicians together at the Sun Records storefront studio in Memphis for the first and only time. The resulting evening became known as one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll jam sessions in history.
Showcased hit songs include: “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “Walk the Line,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Hound Dog,” and more.
“MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is one of those shows that gets under your skin and leaves you euphoric,” says Producer Gigi Pritzker. “The idea of being a fly on the wall during this moment in music history with these great musical icons is a natural for Las Vegas. After hugely successful runs on Broadway, in Chicago and on tour, we are delighted to have found a wonderful, new home at Harrah’s Las Vegas.”
In Las Vegas, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is produced by Relevant Theatricals, John Cossette Productions, Northern Lights, Inc., Broadway Across America, and Base Entertainment.
