The "What Happens Here, Stays Here" ad campaign by LVCVA & R&R Partners lands in Madison Ave Advertising Walk of Fame

Las Vegas lands a spot on the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame! Advertising agency R&R Partners is the creative team behind the famous “What Happens Here, Stays Here’ slogan, used by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to promote the city. With 54 percent of the public voting, the slogan was one of two famous taglines to earn a spot on the coveted list.

Earning 11 percent of the vote, the Capital One “What’s In Your Wallet?” campaign came in second place. In addition to slogans, there were also inductees for company icons! Allstate’s “Mayhem” and the Coca Cola Polar Bears took top honors while the adorable Kia Hamsters were named the first ever “Rookie of the Year.”

“The ‘What Happens Here, Stays Here’ branding campaign is the most successful in the history of the tourism industry,” said President/CEO Rossi Ralenkotter. “The campaign has given millions of people the idea to visit Las Vegas and it resonates with the consumer because it’s based on their Las Vegas stories. It reinforces that Las Vegas is all about having fun.”

“In this business, creating a slogan that endures year after year is the Holy Grail,” said Billy Vassiliadis, CEO of R&R Partners, the agency of record for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “We have been fortunate to work with Rossi Ralenkotter and the late Manny Cortez, who in 2004, let us pursue this new direction in marketing the city. Our research continues to register off the charts for this campaign.”

Currently, the LVCVA is running a follow-up campaign, ‘Know the Code, Protect The Moment”, which asks people to report friends and family who “overshare." It encourages users to share just enough information, but to stop short of sharing that special Vegas "What Happens Here" moment. The campaign is running in various feeder markets, television spots, the official tourism website, VisitLasVegas.com, Facebook and Twitter channels, and YouTube.
