Comedienne
Rita Rudner began a new residency at the
Venetian Resort last night, January 24, 2011, with a cocktail reception and opening night show. Accompanied by her husband
Martin Bergman and daughter Molly, Rudner welcomed members of the press and other VIPs to her new home. The performance showcased her trademark style of soft-spoken humor, clever observations, and sharp timing. She previously spent several years at New York New York Casino and most recently at Harrah’s Las Vegas. She also stars in the 2011 film “
Thanks,” directed by Bergman and debuting at the
Palm Springs International Film Festival.
Down the street, the
“Pitbull of Comedy,” Bobby Slayton opens his new run at
Hooters Casino Hotel tonight, Jan 25. This marks a return engagement to the property after traveling on the road, where Slayton has been performing his own intense style of stand-up comedy for over 30 years. Audiences around the country may recognize Bobby from his scene-stealing roles in movies such as “Get Shorty”, “Ed Wood”, “Bandits” and, most recently, “Dreamgirls.”
