Dance Benefit to Play at Onyx Theater

On May 1 The Onyx Theater will host Black, White and Red: An Evening of Dance to Benefit Education, a concert to raise awareness and money to aid in the purchase of school supplies for the Miley Achievement Center.

The educational facility has been helping young minds re-direct their focus towards more positive avenues for years, yet due to the the present financial situation many schools are going through, they finds themselves in a pinch.

"This is a cause that is very close to my heart and it is so touching that my fellow artists are willing to donate their time and energy to help me out." says Tia Taymar, an instructor for the school.

Tia is teaming with Marko Westwood to put together an evening of artistic visions through dance. Westwood is excited to be able to present work for a cause that makes sense and says, "Look, if these kids aren't given the opportunity that many of us have had, and have taken for granted, where will the next generation of artists come from? I strongly believe we owe it to them to pass on the beauty of what was given to us by our mentors."

Rounding out the program is Petrina Olsen, Jessica Scheitler, Tiffany Caudullo, Mindy Krasner, Karen Reynolds and Jaime Velilla.

Black, White and Red, An Evening of Dance to Benefit Education performs at 2 and 7 pm on May 1.
